The Story of moobob
moobob was born from the shared ambition of seasoned professional Andrew Johnston, a founding partner of Sharston, a mid-market investment firm with presence in both the United States and the United Kingdom, and Laura Walsh who has worked alongside both founding partners of Sharston for the past 14 years. With over 50 years of combined experience, their journey to moobob was grounded in a mutual desire to transform the way the recruitment industry operates.
Andrew Johnston has been a driving force in recruitment since the late 1990s. Over a 30-year career, he built a reputation as a trusted leader, strategist and problem-solver. From his early days as a recruiter on the ground floor to eventually founding Sharston, Andrew has consistently focused on innovation, team development and delivering value driven recruitment solutions. His work has spanned temp and perm agency, in-house recruitment and recruitment process outsourcing businesses, giving him a comprehensive view of industry pain points and the vision to fix them.
In 2011, Laura Walsh entered the recruitment sector with a background in client service and an instinctive understanding of what makes a recruitment partnership thrive. Over the next 14 years, she carved out a name for herself as a reliable, client-focused expert, known for her ability to listen deeply, solve problems creatively and always deliver with integrity. Laura worked closely with both recruitment agencies and internal talent teams, earning a reputation for being a bridge between business needs and delivering outstanding service.
As their paths crossed professionally, Andrew and Laura discovered a shared belief: the recruitment industry was ready for change. Legacy systems were clunky; processes lacked empathy and many platforms failed to truly serve the needs of recruiters. They saw an opportunity not just to improve recruitment tech, but to reimagine it from the ground up.
That’s when moobob was born.
